There are three things that may be impacting your energy statement:
1. Rate changes. Starting in 2015, PG&E began to balance the electric tiered rate structure to more closely align prices with the cost of providing electric service. On March 1, 2017, the number of tiers went from three to two. As a result, some customers may see higher prices while other customers may see lower prices. PG&E does not make any more money as a result of these changes.
2. Rate increases. Between June 2016 and June 2017 there have been a number of rate increases supporting critical safety and reliability programs* such as:
*None of these rate increases are to cover costs related to the San Bruno case fines and penalties.
3. Hotter weather. Electric usage primarily related to cooling increases during the hotter months which then increase the costs on your energy statement.
