You receive the discount for two years before you must re-apply. We automatically contact you for re-certification.
Proof of income is not required during the application process. However, we ask a random sample of CARE customers to provide income verification for quality assurance purposes.
We send letters to both tenants and landlords welcoming them to the CARE Program. The landlord is then responsible for passing the CARE discount through to the tenant. The discount should appear on the energy statements that tenants receive from their landlords.
We encourage you to reapply whenever your income situation changes. Income guidelines change in June of each year.
