We work hard every day to keep our communities safe. We use drones, helicopters, cameras and more to enhance our efforts. And now, our customers can help us keep our system safe. The PG&E Report It program is a valuable part of our safety toolkit. With PG&E Report It, you can send us photos of possible non-emergency safety issues with our electric system to help us keep your community safer.

How to tell the difference between lines
If you see a pole with three sets of wires, the top two are powerlines. The lowest line is a communications line. Communications lines are owned by vendors like AT&T and Comcast. Any issues with these lines should be reported to the appropriate vendor.
Use Report It to report your concerns about PG&E electric system:
Trees or vines that are by a powerline and have:
- Tree branches within 4 feet of primary lines
- Tree branches causing strain or abrasion to secondary lines
- Dead and dying trees within striking distance of PG&E assets
- Strain or abrasion to service drop or communication lines
Tall tree branches causing strain or abrasion to secondary lines.

Powerline poles that are:
- Leaning more than 10%
- Burned
- Cracked
- Decayed/rotten
- Vandalized
Powerlines that are:
- Frayed
- Low or sagging
- Buzzing
- Experiencing an object caught on the line
Electrical equipment that is:
- Leaking
- Buzzing or making a loud noise
- Severely corroded
Call us for issues that need immediate attention
Some issues may require immediate attention and should not be reported through the app. If you encounter the following, please call 1-800-743-5002:
- Mylar® balloon caught in a powerline
- Broken power pole
- Broken cross arm on pole
- Open site enclosure
- Exposed electrical wires
- Issues with gas equipment
To report a safety issue, visit the Report It web page or download the PG&E Report It mobile app. Here’s what you’ll need to report a safety issue with Report It:
- On the Report It web page, select “Report a safety issue” to begin your report.
- On the mobile app, select the “Report” button.

Provide an email address where you want to get updates about your safety issue.
- On the Report It web page, you’ll need to provide an email address for every submission.
- On the mobile app, you’ll only need to provide an email address for your first submission.
Select the type of user you are. Options include:
- General public
- Tree crew worker
- Road crew worker
- Utility worker
- City and/or public worker
- Fire response agency/CAL FIRE
- Power/cable/telecom provider
- If you’re a power/cable/telecom provider, you’ll be asked to include your company name. Please use your company email address for your submissions.
- First responder
- Utility regulator

Enter an address, drop a pin on the map or share your location to provide the location of the safety issue.

Select which type of issue you're reporting and the type of damage.

Add up to four photos or a 10-second video of the safety issue. Include one photo of the damage close up and one from far away. If possible, provide a photo of the asset tag number on a nearby power pole. You can select photos and videos you've already taken or use the camera from your phone.

Add a brief description of your issue. If the location does not have an address, please describe how or where it can be found.

Review and submit your information. We'll send emails to keep you updated until your submission is closed. Add safetyappteam@pge.com and noreply_safetyapp@pge.com to your email contacts to make sure our emails don’t go to your spam folder.

Track the issues you report
After your issue has been reviewed by our safety team, we’ll send you a confirmation email. Each time the status of your concern changes, you’ll receive an update. When the issue is closed, a final update will be sent to you letting you know what actions were taken. You can track the status of your concern through “My Reports” on the Report It web page or on the mobile app.

Since launching Report It, we've received more than 12,000 submissions, averaging 17 per day. Thank you for working with us to help keep communities even safer.
Damage to pole or structure
Before: A powerline pole with large woodpecker holes.

Leaning pole or structure
Before: A leaning powerline pole.
After: A new powerline with tree branches cleared and pole replaced.
Vegetation interfering with wires
Before: Tree branches growing within 4 inches of a Primary line.
After: A powerline pole clear from tree branches interfering with a Primary line.
Do not use Report It to report these emergencies:
- Downed or sparking powerlines. If you see a downed or sparking powerline, leave the area immediately and call 9-1-1.
- Natural gas hazards. If you smell natural gas or suspect a leak, leave the area immediately and call 9-1-1.
Do not use Report It to report outages:
Do not use Report It to report vegetation issues if they're unrelated to electrical lines:
- For vegetation concerns, please contact PG&E's vegetation management team at 1-800-564-5080 or treesafety@pge.com.
- For wildfire-specific wood management concerns, please call 1-800-687-5720 or email wildfirewoodmanagement@pge.com.
Upon receipt, we'll assign a case number to your issue and the PG&E Report It team will review the information. Once it's validated, you can track the progress of your concern in the app or on the Report It web page under "My Reports." We'll assign the issue to a work team to be repaired or addressed. When the work is complete, the submission will be closed.
We'll notify you each time the status of your issue is updated. If there is a safety issue, we will let you know when the work is scheduled to be completed, within 30 days.
Each submission we receive is reviewed by the PG&E Report It team and evaluated on a case-by-case basis, so the time will vary. Our goal is to resolve the issue within 30 days or let you know when the work is scheduled to be completed.
- For photos, we accept .JPEG, .JPG, .HEIC and .HEIF. We recommend .JPEG.
- For videos, we accept .MP4, .MOV and .HEVC.
If you’re having trouble using the Report It web page, make sure you’re using a supported browser.
If you’re having trouble using the mobile app, make sure you’re using a compatible operating system. PG&E Report It is compatible with iPhones with iOS 13.0 or later and Android phones with Android 12 or later. It’s not compatible with tablets at this time.
If you’re using a compatible browser or device and are having issues with Report It, please:

- Submit your issue with our online form.
Safety is our highest priority. With help from customers like you, we can learn about a hazardous power pole, powerline or other PG&E equipment earlier and make the necessary repairs.
You can also report a safety concern on the Report It web page or by calling PG&E at 1-800-743-5002. You won’t be able to use Report It to view or track the status of the issue if it’s called in.
