Work in Calaveras County

PG&E will be conducting wildfire safety work near you. This will include moving some powerlines underground. It could also include system upgrades such as installing strong poles and covered powerlines above ground.

 

In 2025, we plan to complete 22 miles of undergrounding and 20 miles of system upgrades in Calaveras County. 

 

Through the end of 2024, we completed 21 total miles of undergrounding and 11 total miles of overhead system upgrades.

Undergrounding and system upgrade projects are typically completed in 12-24 months. System upgrade projects include installing strengthened poles and covered powerlines. Projects in your community may already be in one of the below phases*:

  • Survey crews painting and staking.

What to expect:

  • Your power may need to be turned off for a short time to complete this work safely.

View traffic control measures in your area.

  • The timing of final restoration may change depending on the schedules of nearby projects and weather impacts. We will monitor temporary repairs for safety and return to complete final repairs when temperatures are high enough to install new asphalt safely.

* Phases 1 through 3 may take 1 to 18 months. Phases 4 and 5 may take 2 to 3 months each. Trimming or cutting down trees and shrubs may continue through the entire project from Phase 3 forward.

You may see our crews, contractor vehicles and large equipment in the area throughout this process. Crews may need to access your property and will coordinate with you in advance. All personnel are happy to provide photo ID.
