Residential gas and electric prices went down again in January 2026, helping ease energy costs for households. This reflects our ongoing commitment to managing energy costs for all our customers.
For customers who get both electricity supply and delivery service from PG&E, this is the fourth price drop in two years. Residential electric prices are now 11% lower than they were in January 2024. An average customer using 500 kWh of usage per month is seeing about $20 less off their monthly bill.

PG&E’s electric prices have stabilized and are going down, even while the U.S. Energy Information Administration expects national electric prices to rise by nearly 10% between 2024 and 2026.
PG&E delivers a safe, reliable, sustainable and climate-resilient energy system. We are doing this at the lowest possible cost. Here are the steps we are taking:
- We are reducing our operating costs by working in a smarter way. We are cutting extra expenses without sacrificing safety.
- We are solving fire risk and lowering tree trimming costs permanently by putting powerlines underground in the highest fire-risk areas.
- Spreading costs over longer periods of time to help reduce bill spikes.
- We are working with state leaders to reduce or remove subsidies and extra costs on your bill.
- We are seeking lower-cost funding to pay for safety and reliability system-improvement work. This includes options like federal grants and loans.
- We are offering programs and discounts to help you save energy and money.
