PG&E's 2025 Corporate Sustainability Report

PG&E has issued its 2025 Corporate Sustainability Report — sharing details of progress made last year in delivering a safer, cleaner, and more innovative and affordable energy system for our customers.

The report includes statistics and stories on how the company is making good on its commitments to safety, including wildfire safety, and improving operations. It also highlights the strategies and partnerships PG&E is pursuing to make collective progress toward a clean energy future.

“It’s an exciting time at PG&E and in California. Our story of progress is real, and we are optimistic about the future we’re building — a future of resilient, clean and affordable energy that serves People, the Planet and California’s Prosperity,” said Patti Poppe, CEO of PG&E Corporation.

Poppe stressed PG&E’s commitment to helping our customers and hometowns prosper: “We are determined to serve California’s Prosperity with energy that’s affordable for all. We work every day to stabilize customer bills, in part by improving processes and systems that further reduce our operating costs.”

Among the report’s highlights from 2024 are how the company:

  • Reduced the risk of wildfires by burying 258 miles of powerlines, as part of our continued investment to underground powerlines in high fire risk areas.
  • Supplied 98% greenhouse gas-free electricity to residential and business customers to whom PG&E directly sells power.
  • Hosted our second Innovation Summit, bringing together innovators and utility partners to collaborate on solutions that bridge to California’s clean energy future.
  • Responded to gas odor reports within 19.6 minutes on average, exceeding our goal for the year.
  • Provided weatherization, energy efficiency solutions, and appliances to more than 50,750 income-qualified households through our Energy Savings Assistance Program. Additionally, PG&E provided 1.4 million income-qualified customers with a monthly discount on their bill through the CARE program.
  • Spent $11.5 billion in total procurement with a focus on fueling long-term, economic prosperity by promoting a competitive and comprehensive supply base.
  • Contributed $31.9 million to charitable organizations to help address critical social, educational and environmental challenges in the communities it serves and dedicated more than 43,000 coworker volunteer hours.

Additionally, PG&E remains committed to longer-term climate goals established in its Climate Strategy Report, helping to transition California to a low-carbon and more climate-resilient economy.

“Across our energy system, we’re innovating in new and exciting ways to build resilience and chart the course to net-zero in 2040. …We continue to put our customers at the heart of our strategy and are excited about co-creating a more sustainable future together.” said Carla Peterman, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Chief Sustainability Officer of PG&E Corporation.

“All of us at PG&E welcome your feedback on this report and our performance,” she added.
