PG&E Recognized for Emergency Response During February Storm
PG&E has received an Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Emergency Response Award recipient for work following a severe winter storm in February.
Presented to EEI member companies twice a year, the Emergency Response Awards recognize recovery and assistance efforts of electric companies following service disruptions caused by extreme weather or other natural events. The winners were chosen by a panel of judges following an international nomination process. The awards were presented during EEI’s Board of Directors and CEO meeting held in conjunction with EEI’s annual meeting and thought leadership forum.
“America’s electric companies work around the clock to restore power following severe storms and other extreme weather events,” said EEI President and CEO Dan Brouillette. “PG&E’s commitment to restoring power in a safe, efficient manner to the communities it serves following this powerful atmospheric river is admirable. PG&E and its storm response team are extremely deserving of this well-earned recovery award.”
PG&E was recognized for its response to a strong winter storm in February that interrupted service to over 1.4 million customers. The storm resulted in setting a new record for the most outages in a single day since 1995. Angie Gibson, PG&E vice president, Emergency Preparedness and Response, said the award was earned through dedication to customers and the incredibly hard work of our PG&E crews and contractors.
“We train year-round to be able to respond to any type of emergency. Hundreds of our teammates have gone through extensive state and federally recognized training in emergency response to ensure that when we are called to help our customers, we are ready,” Gibson said.
