Spring Into Action and Make the Summer Transition a Breeze

Temperatures are starting to climb, and my kids are already asking for popsicles for breakfast.

To stay a step ahead of the summer busyness, I did a seasonal energy checkup to prepare my home for the transition, so my family can stay comfortable and avoid big spikes in our energy bills.

First, I went online to my PG&E account to make sure I was on the best rate plan for my household. Turns out, I am!  By clicking the ‘Compare rate plans’ tab under the "Your rate plan" section on my account homepage, I was able to see a side-by-side comparison of plan options and estimated pricing based on my usage.

Old weatherstripping around two of my doors needed to be replaced to prevent hot air from creeping indoors. I also cleared debris around my air conditioning system for the best ventilation, and had a licensed technician check for any leaks in my upstairs and downstairs units.

My ceiling fans needed some TLC too, so I grabbed my duster, checked the batteries in the remotes, and made sure they were working properly. I know they will get plenty of use over the next few months, especially upstairs in my kids’ bedrooms.

These are just a few of the proactive easy steps that will reduce the strain on my A/C and bills and make the seasonal switch seamless.
