PG&E knows how important it is for small and medium businesses to be on the right rate plan. Changes in staffing, hours or equipment can affect how much energy a business uses and how much it pays. Business owners should check their electric rate plan every year or whenever their business changes. Switching to a better rate plan can lower a PG&E bill as soon as the next month.

PG&E is the only state utility with a team that helps small businesses. Recently, PG&E’s Energy Advisors talked with over 2,000 customers. They explained different rate plans, showed self-service tools and shared resources like paperless billing and budget billing. On average, each business saved $18,000. Altogether, businesses saved more than $6.8 million just by changing rate plans.

For example, the Emergency Food Bank of Stockton switched to a better rate plan and saved $2,500 a year.

“Our mission is to help small businesses find a better energy future by offering resources and new solutions in our communities. Our teams help businesses set up new service, use energy more efficiently and find ways to save,” said Alicia Romer from PG&E’s Small Business Engagement team.

All business and residential customers can use PG&E’s Rate Comparison Tool in their online account. This tool gives personalized recommendations and lets customers change their rate plan.

Business customers should look at PG&E’s energy-saving programs and tools. They can also contact PG&E to talk with an energy advisor about their account.
