Unsure if your home is ready for EV charging? Electrify with Ease is a free personalized home charging recommendation service from PG&E. It shows you whether charging at home is likely to be a simple, moderate or larger home project, what it may require and what to do next.

Will your home support EV charging?

Installing EV charging isn't the same for every home. Some homeowners can get started with minimal changes, while others may need electrical upgrades or additional equipment. Whether you're considering or already have an EV, you may be wondering:

Before you pay for electrical upgrades

Many homeowners are told they may need a panel upgrade or other major electrical work before they can charge an EV at home.

 

In some cases, that's true. In many others, there may be simpler options available.

 

Electrify with Ease helps you understand what your home can safely support before you spend time pursuing contractor estimates, equipment purchases or electrical upgrades.

We provide a personalized assessment and action plan including:

 

  • A licensed electrician's evaluation of your home's charging readiness
  • Recommended installation and upgrade options, if needed
  • Estimated costs and project timelines
  • Resources to help you find qualified contractors
  • Information on rebates, incentives and programs that may reduce costs

We'll send a personalized summary that outlines your charging options, possible electrical needs, available incentives and next steps.

Step 3. Decide how you want to move forward

Use your summary to choose the best next step. You may choose a lower-cost charging option, talk with a contractor or prepare for installation.

Eligibility criteria

Electrify with Ease is currently available to a limited number of PG&E customers as we evaluate this service. Qualified participants are:

 

  • Active PG&E residential electric customers
  • Single-family homeowners with dedicated parking
  • Residents of select zip codes

Yes. Electrify with Ease is a free service from PG&E that provides personalized charging guidance and unbiased recommendations.

We base our recommendations on your home's electrical setup and charging needs. Electrify with Ease does not require you to purchase equipment, hire a contractor or move forward with installation. You decide whether, when and how to move forward. PG&E's only interest is in making electrification easier for its customers.

Electrify with Ease goes beyond online research and looks at your home's electrical setup and includes a review by a California-licensed electrician. This free, unbiased assessment helps you understand your home-charging options and whether you may need upgrades before you spend time and money on equipment or contractor estimates.

Not necessarily. Many homeowners can charge an EV without upgrading their electrical panel. Electrify with Ease helps you understand what your home may need before you spend money on equipment or upgrades.

Sharing information about your home typically takes less than 10 minutes. After you submit your information, we'll review it and send your recommendation within 5-7 business days.

No. PG&E does not recommend, select or assign contractors. We may share links to third-party resources that help you explore contractor options. You decide whether to contact or hire a contractor, what information to share and whether to proceed with any proposed work.

No. You can complete your Electrify with Ease home-charging assessment without scheduling an in-home visit. If you choose to move forward with installation, a contractor may need to visit your home or request additional information to confirm the recommended approach, project scope and cost.

No. You can use your recommendation to decide whether, when and how you want to move forward.
