We're making targeted upgrades to the electric system to deliver more reliable power for homes and businesses in the area—and to support the area's growing energy needs in the future.
Project details
As part of our ongoing commitment to safety and reliability, we are strengthening the electric system by upgrading existing powerlines and building a new 10.5-mile powerline and 70 kV switching station. This project will create a stronger system for you and your neighbors.
How this work will benefit you
These upgrades are designed to deliver dependable service you can count on:
- More reliable power for more than 50,000 customers and businesses
- Stronger, modern equipment designed to last longer and operate more efficiently
- Support for future growth, including new homes, businesses, and clean energy needs
What we have completed
Phase 1 - Completed in March 2026
- Upgraded about 3 miles of existing powerlines
- Replaced aging wood poles with durable galvanized steel poles
What we will be doing
Phase 2 - Fall 2026
- Upgrade an additional 3 miles of existing powerlines
- Replace wood poles with galvanized steel poles
Phase 3 - Summer 2027
- Construct a new 10.5-mile powerline and 70 kV switching station to further strengthen the regional electric system
What to expect during construction
We work to minimize impacts to the community during construction. Customers may notice:
- Crews and equipment working near roadways or powerlines
- Temporary traffic controls or lane closures
- Short duration power outages, when necessary, with advance notice whenever possible
We will coordinate closely with local agencies and keep customers informed as work progresses.
