Responding to the idea originally discussed at the July 2004 OFO Forum, the California Public Utilities Commission recently approved a revision to the $1,000 OFO noncompliance charge exemption on PG&E's California Gas Transmission system.

Previously, any balancing entity with OFO noncompliance charges totaling $1,000 or less in a calendar month was not charged for OFO noncompliance. This exemption is now revised to $1,000 per OFO event, further easing the administrative burden on balancing entities without compromising reliable pipeline operations. With CPUC approval March 17, 2005, this new rule is now effective and will apply to any OFOs in the month of March and beyond.
