Diablo Canyon outage jobs, veterans' programs and full-time positions

Avila Beach, Calif. — Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) today announced it will host its third annual hiring information fair on June 12 at the PG&E Energy Education Center in San Luis Obispo.
Information on available opportunities for outage work and full-time employment at PG&E – including with PG&E's business partners – will be available at the hiring information fair. Representatives from PG&E's nationally recognized Power Pathways Program will be on hand to provide military veterans with information on this job training program. In addition, nearly a dozen other groups and business partners that provide services to Diablo Canyon will be present to provide job information.
"Our hiring information fair is a great first step for people who are interested in joining the PG&E team and share our core value of safety. Diablo Canyon Power Plant plays a leading role in helping PG&E deliver some of the nation's cleanest electricity to its customers," said PG&E Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer Ed Halpin.
Locally, PG&E employs more than 1,500 people and is the largest private employer and property taxpayer in the county – nearly $26 million for the fiscal year of 2014/2015. Diablo Canyon annually contributes more than $900 million to the region and spends more than $20 million locally on goods and services.
The company will be hiring for various positions needed to support a refueling outage at Diablo Canyon this fall. Information and best practices for applying will also be shared in regards of full-time employment both at the plant and throughout the entire service territory. PG&E is hosting the hiring information fair in partnership with America's Job Center of California.
Through PG&E's partnership with America's Job Center, the organization will be hosting preparation workshops on June 2, 3, 9 and 10. Attendees of the workshop will get priority entry* to the hiring fair from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
