PG&E Senior Vice President appointed to National Nuclear Accrediting Board
John Conway to join top panel dedicated to ensuring excellence in industry training programs

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) today announced that Senior Vice President of Energy Supply John Conway has been appointed to the National Academy for Nuclear Training's National Nuclear Accrediting Board.
The independent National Nuclear Accrediting Board evaluates operator and technical training programs for nuclear plants throughout the industry, ensuring that accredited training programs meet the highest standards for excellence and incorporate best practices. All members of the organization are required to maintain accreditation of their training programs for personnel who operate, maintain and support their nuclear plants.
At PG&E, Conway oversees all of the utility's energy procurement and power generation assets, including nuclear, fossil, hydroelectric, cogeneration and renewable sources, with a focus on supplying reliable, affordable and clean electricity and gas to PG&E's customers. Conway is also the former Chairman of the Board of Directors for Fuelco, LLC, and the Nuclear Energy Institute's Executive Fuel Task Force.
Conway previously served as PG&E's Chief Nuclear Officer, responsible for the continued safe, efficient, and reliable operations of Diablo Canyon Power Plant, the decommissioning of Humboldt Bay Power Plant, and the utility's relations with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Prior to joining PG&E as the site vice president at Diablo Canyon in May 2007, Conway served as site vice president of the Monticello Nuclear Plant in Minnesota. He spent 24 years at Nine Mile Point in Oswego, N.Y., where he held a series of positions of increasing responsibility, including the senior executive role at the station, site vice president, vice president of nuclear engineering, plant manager and operations manager. He also served as the power ascension manager for the initial startup testing program for Nine Mile Point Unit 2.
Conway holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y. He held Senior Reactor Operator licenses for each of the two different nuclear units at Nine Mile Point and has graduated from the INPO Senior Nuclear Executive Seminar and the INPO Senior Nuclear Plant Manager Course.
