SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) today announced the 11 local community members who will serve on the Diablo Canyon Decommissioning Engagement Panel. The panel will provide community input to PG&E as it prepares a site-specific plan for the future decommissioning of Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP).
A Formation Committee that included representatives from the local community assisted PG&E with an in-depth review of 105 talented applicants, and the selection of 11 panelists that broadly reflect the diverse community viewpoints in proximity to DCPP.
"We sincerely appreciate the time and effort put forth by each candidate to apply, and we're heartened that so many gifted community leaders offered to be a part of this important process. While the decision was very difficult, the 11-member panel represents a diverse group that is equipped to capture the community's collective vision on matters related to the future decommissioning of Diablo Canyon," said Jon Franke, PG&E's Vice President of Power Generation.

The panel's first meeting will be held on May 30, 2018, at the PG&E Energy Education Center (6588 Ontario Road in San Luis Obispo).
Panel meetings will provide opportunities to engage with PG&E on decommissioning plans including potential future use of the site and the lands that surround DCPP, as well as opportunities to learn about the various aspects of the decommissioning process.
