On March 25-27, 2014, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will conduct a three-day workshop with independent experts to develop a Diablo Canyon Power Plant Seismic Source Characterization (SSC) model. The SSC describes the future earthquake potential (e.g. magnitudes, locations and rates) for the onshore and offshore region surrounding Diablo Canyon.
This is the last of three workshops that PG&E is sponsoring in support of a Senior Seismic Hazard Analysis Committee (SSHAC) study to update, in accordance with a directive from Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the seismic hazard characterization model for Diablo Canyon. This workshop involves seismic experts' evaluations and feedback on the preliminary SSC model.
