Unit 2 at PG&E'S Diablo Canyon Power Plant Operating at Full Power

December 5, 2018

AVILA BEACH Calif. — Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (PG&E) Diablo Canyon Power Plant Unit 2 has been returned to service and is now operating at 100 percent power.

Unit 2 had been shut down since December 1, when a grid monitoring protective feature detected a lower than normal current on the transmission lines. Upon sensing the operation of the grid protective feature last Saturday, Unit 2 performed as designed and automatically went off line to protect equipment.

Unit 1 is currently operating at 55 percent power due to maintenance activities.
