On December 29, 2025, PG&E filed Advice Letter 5161-G to modify PG&E’s Gas Curtailment Procedures with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) in compliance with Decision 25-10-042. In this filing, PG&E provided an implementation plan overview and proposed updates to Gas Rule 1 and Gas Rule 14 with an effective date of November 1, 2026.
The main change will be the prioritization structure for gas curtailment procedures in alignment with those implemented by California’s other natural gas utilities. Be advised that changes to PG&E’s Curtailment procedures will not be effective for this winter (Nov 2025 to Mar 2026). PG&E’s current Gas Rule 1 - Definitions and Gas Rule 14 - Capacity Allocation and Constraint of Service will remain in effect until the November 1, 2026 implementation date.
PG&E is committed to keeping you informed of changes to the Curtailment Process with periodic updates to be posted here on Pipe Ranger. If you have any questions, please contact Allen DeBrum at (415) 706-3960 or Allen.DeBrum@pge.com.
