Pipe Ranger Alert

New Base Gas Information Available on Pipe Ranger Beginning August 15

Date: August 14, 2026

To enhance transparency around PG&E's natural gas storage operations and to comply with Ordering Paragraph 12 of California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Decision 26-02-058 (D.26-02-058), PG&E will begin publishing its Base Gas in Storage value on the Pipe Ranger Current Pipeline Status page beginning August 15, 2026. This information will provide customers with additional visibility into storage inventory levels and support a greater understanding of system conditions.

The Base Gas in Storage value will initially be displayed in the footer of the Recent Storage Activity table on the Current Pipeline Status page.

Base gas represents the inventory kept in total at PG&E-owned underground reservoirs (McDonald Island, Los Medanos, and PG&E’s 25% share at Gill Ranch Storage) to maintain pressure and reliable deliverability of working gas. In September 2026, the second phase is expected to be released, marking an enhancement to the storage reporting framework on Pipe Ranger. This release will directly integrate the Base Gas in Storage value into the storage activity tables alongside existing inventory information, offering a more comprehensive view of PG&E’s total gas in storage volumes.

PG&E remains committed to providing customers with clear, timely, and useful information about system operations. We look forward to delivering additional enhancements in September that will further expand the storage information available through Pipe Ranger.
