California Gas Transmission will start receiving a slug of high Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) into its system around 2:27 a.m. PST on Monday, January 15, 2024. The H2S is coming in at the Gas Transmission Northwest (GTN) interconnect at Malin. Initial readings show approximately 1 hour of high H2S. 3.5PPM is considered our highest limit of H2S and approximately 30 minutes of the 1 hour of slug is over 3.5PPM.
GTN and PG&E is taking steps to try to blend and mitigate the high H2S; however, given the speed in which it is traveling, customers and interconnecting operators might experience the high H2S at their metering facilities.
