California Gas Transmission is proud to announce a comprehensive redesign of our website, Pipe Ranger. The redesign will offer a more user-friendly experience with responsive design, easier navigation and enhanced search functionality while showcasing our commitment to quality customer service. You will also notice that it has all of the same information that existed on the previous site. The new redesigned site launches Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

Read on for a sneak peek at what’s coming your way soon!

Navigating the New Pipe Ranger

Before we tour the new site, we’d like to highlight the new header navigation bar. A large focus of this redesign was to introduce more intuitive and easier navigation. This means that the new header navigation bar will scroll with you so everything will be more easily accessible to you no matter where you find yourself within the new Pipe Ranger experience.

The new header navigation also highlights and brings forward key areas we feel users would find helpful:

  • INSIDEtracc Login
  • CGT Contacts / Weekend On Call
  • Subscription Services
  • Rates and Tariffs

Additionally, we are introducing a much better search functionality that should:

  • Provide accurate search results
  • Quick links dropdown to most searched pages
  • Allow a user to filter by exact matches
  • Allow a user to exclude documents from the results

Everything else in the navigation should feel familiar and take you to the same pages and sections you experienced previously. With these changes, we wanted to make sure users will always find the information they need from anywhere on the site.

The New Homepage

Another focus of this redesign was to make Pipe Ranger modern and accessible but also familiar. The focus on accessibility for this redesign ensures that everyone can fully interact with and navigate the new site. With a larger font standard, a user should now be able to more easily read and consume the information.

When you first visit the new homepage, you’ll notice that it has a much cleaner aesthetic, but you will also notice that it has all of the same information that existed on the previous site including OFO/EFO Outlook, System Inventory Status, Physical Pipeline Capacity, Interactive Map, etc. We think you’ll love the new experience.

Current Pipeline Status

Similar to the homepage, the Current Pipeline Status page has all the same information you would expect to see. The difference now is we have better navigation with our new “Jump to” functionality. The left side of the page will scroll with you as you move up and down the page highlighting the section you’re currentlyviewing. If you want to move to another section, simply click on any “Jump to” link and it’ll auto scroll you to that section.

Additionally, the blue subnavigation bar will scroll with the user as well providing them easy access to related pages.

These navigation options can be found throughout the new site bubbling up related links and pages to the user so they can more easily navigate to the information they need.

Responsive Design

This redesign is not just about aesthetics. As mentioned, it’s a complete overhaul aimed at enhancing a user’s experience and accessibility. We’re now introducing a responsive layout that adapts seamlessly to any device, be it desktop, tablet or mobile making this site much easier to interact with regardless of what device you use.

Additional Highlights
  • Enhanced archive download functionality
  • Enhanced News Archive page
  • Information cards providing context on what page or file you’re opening

We invite you to explore the new Pipe Ranger and discover the enhanced experience for yourself once we launch the new site on Wednesday, December 20, 2023!

Anything Else I Should Know?

Yes, here are a few more important details to know prior to experiencing the new site:

  • The desktop version of the site was built for a 1440x900 resolution monitor or higher. If you have a small monitor, laptop or tablet, the responsive design of the site will kick in and rearrange various elements to conform to the screen size.
  • If you have any current pages of Pipe Ranger bookmarked, those links should redirect you to the new version of that page once the new site is live. That said, once you’re redirected to the new page, we do recommend you bookmark the new URL.
  • We’ve transferred over articles from January 2021 through today. If there are any older articles you still reference, please let us know, and we can republish them for you.

If you have any questions about where content may have moved, don’t hesitate to reach out to our CGT frontline team for help. We can’t wait to see you dive in and see what’s new!
