Relief for Energy Assistance through Community Help (REACH)

Get help paying your energy bill during a crisis

Enroll for an energy credit up to $800 based on your past due bill

In 2026, PG&E committed an additional $50 million to extend bill assistance programs, including PG&E REACH and Match My Payment. In 2025, these PG&E programs helped nearly 64,000 customers help manage past-due energy bills.

More about the PG&E REACH program

For 42 years, the PG&E REACH program has helped low-income families maintain energy services in times of hardship. PG&E contracts with Dollar Energy Fund (DEF) to process customer applications for the PG&E REACH program. REACH provides an energy credit (applied directly to your PG&E bill) up to $800 towards the past due portion of the bill. Funding is provided on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to availability.

To be eligible for assistance from the REACH program you must:

  • Have a residential account with PG&E in the name of an adult living in the household
  • Have received either a 15-day or a 48-hour disconnection notice
  • Not have received REACH assistance within the same calendar year
  • Have household income that does not exceed the REACH income guidelines, which are currently at or below 200% of the federal poverty level (FPL)

 Note:

  • The same income guidelines are used for the CARE program. Review those guidelines on the CARE Program.
  • Customers who are enrolled in the Arrearage Management Plan (AMP) are not eligible for REACH assistance.
  • This is not an all-inclusive list and is subject to periodic modifications. All guidelines are established by the REACH program.

REACH Customer Application Process:

  1. Apply online at Dollar Energy Fund website.
  2. View application status, approval details, and award amounts at MyStatus 2026 - Dollar Energy Fund, Inc.
  3. If you need additional assistance, find an agency in your county to contact.

Shutoff for nonpayment is a last resort

Here's how PG&E works with its customers to avoid the disconnection of service.

Disconnection of service is an action that PG&E does not take lightly. It's a last resort taken only after more than 60-day process involving many attempts to work with customers to resolve their bills. This graphic depicts the day 1 to day 66 process.

Note: Customers are encouraged to enroll in assistance programs at any point in the process.
