Welcome to PowerPathway™
The PowerPathway program trains and prepares individuals for high-paying, high-demand energy sector positions specific to PG&E's hiring needs. Since community outreach is essential to the program's success, we continuously develop relationships with labor, industry, government, community-based organizations, foundations and California educational institutions.
Why Take the PG&E Path?
For more than a century, PG&E has had a long-standing commitment to California. We invest in our employees, which includes building their technical skills for apprentice-level to journey-level advancement. Graduates of our PowerPathway courses can apply for positions at PG&E with a starting wage of $20.66 per hour or more and an exceptional benefits package.
Job Seekers
Thanks to the support of state, federal and foundation grants, most course tuition is covered for participants. Types of PowerPathway courses include:
Full Bridge (for those with limited or no prior related work experience)
Intensive Bridge (for those with some related work experience)
Capstone Course (for those with formal related training)
Initial 2008 training courses will take place at local community colleges in three geographic areas: San Francisco/Oakland, San Mateo/San Jose and Fresno. Courses will cover apprentice lineworker and utility worker positions. Review our course schedule.
Additional pathways into welding, instrument and electrical technician, and mechanic classifications are under development.
PowerPathway Networks
PG&E continuously builds a network of relationships with public and private organizations to help identify, assess and refer participants for our PowerPathway programs. Those admitted will participate in customized curriculum offered by selected California community colleges. We welcome organizations interested in providing funding for these high-quality programs.
The PowerPathway Network includes:
Outreach & Referral Network (individuals and organizations that can refer and support those interested in the PowerPathway program)
Trainer Network (community colleges that offer training programs)
Funder Network (Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs), public and private foundations, companies, and state or federal entities that provide economic support for the training programs)
