FERC Order Issued Modifying Gas Scheduling Processes

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

On April 16, 2015, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a final order which will modify the scheduling processes of interstate pipelines.  California Gas Transmission has provided information about the FERC Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, and the resulting industry-wide discussion, in three previous articles:  June 2014, July 2014, and December 2014

FERC's final order provides for:

  • The start time of the gas day to stay as it is currently
  • A fifth nomination cycle in the form of a third intraday cycle at 5:00 p.m., Pacific time
  • A change to the Timely cycle deadline from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., PT
  • Shorter cycle processing times resulting in quicker issuance of scheduled quantities reports

Attached for your reference is the order.  Although not FERC-regulated, CGT will be implementing these changes by the required implementation date of April 1, 2016, presuming CPUC approval of necessary tariff changes.
