Much Appreciation from CGT!

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

The week of December 5th through December 11th was a long, cold one in the PG&E service territory. We had to curtail a number of noncore customers on five days during the week.

CGT wants to express our appreciation to you for helping us to get through the week so smoothly! Without your cooperation, things might have been significantly more bumpy. And you were actually a part of history in the making!

During this period, CGT transported record daily volumes of gas to our end use customers. Starting on December 4th, the total system send out of 4.35 BCF surpassed the previous record of 4.3 BCF which occurred on December 23, 1998. The pinnacle send-out of this week-long period hit 4.975 BCF on Monday, December 9th.

Like CGT, all other western utilities were experiencing peak demand due to the arctic cold mass. Because of the large amount of storage on CGT's system, we were able to use storage to meet approximately 70% of our demand. Storage withdrawals set another record when 3.5 BCF came from CGT and independent storage providers' withdrawal.

Like warm mittens or a fuzzy hat, thank you for helping us withstand the cold!
