Pipeline Balancing Injection Unavailable

Friday, June 21, 2013

Recent and consistent over-deliveries by suppliers have increased Imbalance Gas in Storage to over 4.040 Bcf. This indicates that the entire inventory reserved for pipeline balancing has been exceeded. Pipeline balancing injections have been temporarily suspended. Once the Imbalance Gas in Storage inventory returns to a level below 4.040 Bcf, injection for balancing will again be available.

Pipeline balancing services are provided by an allocated 4.040 Bcf of storage inventory, 75 MMcf/d of injection capacity, and 75 MMcf/d of withdrawal capacity. The current inventory of Imbalance Gas in Storage This link will open in a new window can be found on the Pipe Ranger Operations page.

Normally, as maximum safe operating limits are approached, balancing gas is injected to maintain pipeline inventory within safe limits. Without the ability to inject for balancing, the likelihood of high inventory OFOs increases.
