Pacific Gas and Electric Company's California Gas Transmission will conduct a "quiet period" at McDonald Island storage field beginning November 6, 2012. Each year CGT ceases injection and withdrawal activity at one of its storage fields, allowing pressure in various gas wells to settle and stabilize. This allows CGT engineers to accurately verify the volume of gas inventory held at that facility.
CGT anticipates the quiet period will start November 6, 2012 and last fourteen days; however, this schedule is subject to change. During the event, McDonald Island injection and withdrawal will be unavailable. Utilizing PG&E's other storage facilities, pipeline balancing services will have first priority to the remaining injection capacity. Any injection capacity not utilized for balancing services will be available for CGT's customers.
CGT anticipates that its withdrawal capacity will be sufficient to meet firm demand; however, the inventory verification process may have an impact on firm injection.
Please contact your CGT Account Services Representative if you have any questions about your storage account during November.
