Cold Weather Alert Beginning Tuesday

Friday, January 13, 2012

PG&E's California Gas Transmission is issuing a Cold Weather Alert beginning Tuesday, January 17. The current forecast is calling for many areas to be at or beyond our Cold Winter Day (CWD) conditions, including Santa Rosa, Redding, and Sacramento.

Cold Winter Day is a design day criteria used to ensure reliable gas service for core and noncore customers. Gas systems are designed to meet all expected core and noncore demand during a CWD. The CWD design temperature is defined as the coldest temperature that may be exceeded one in every two years, on average. The system weighted mean temperature for a CWD is about 37 degrees Fahrenheit. Lows for the valley areas are expected to be in the upper 20's and low 30's Monday morning, and upper 20's on Tuesday morning.

CGT is currently not expecting local curtailments. We will provide updates on Pipe Ranger over the next few days as the situation develops.
