In northern California, winter is clearly on our doorstep! Now is the time to prepare for potential extreme cold weather events like Local Curtailments, Emergency Flow Orders (EFOs) or Involuntary Diversions.

To help customers do this, California Gas Transmission has updated the Getting Ready for Winter document for 2010-2011. Please take the time now to become familiar with or review the information in this document. Communication between end-use customers and their suppliers is essential to keep gas supply and usage in balance. It is advantageous to establish a protocol in advance outlining the actions you should take in the event a Local Curtailment, EFO, or Involuntary Diversion is implemented.

All of PG&E's noncore customers have recently received letters stating their allowed burns (i.e., usage) in the event of a Local Curtailment. These letters go out every year, explaining the maximum allowed burn in the event of a Stage 1, Stage 2, or Stage 3 Local Curtailment. If you haven't already done so, now is a good time to contact your end-use customers and discuss with them their plan of action should a Local Curtailment be called at any time this winter.
