Cold Weather is Here!

Monday, November 22, 2010

California Gas Transmission's current forecast for Wednesday, November 24 and Thursday, November 25, 2010 shows the mercury dropping in northern California. Although we are expecting some areas in northern California to be at or beyond our Cold Winter Day (CWD) conditions, local curtailments are not currently forecast.

CWD is a design day criteria used to ensure reliable gas service for core and non-core customers. The CWD design temperature is defined as the coldest temperature that may be exceeded once in every two years, on average. Our gas systems are designed to meet all expected core and noncore demand during a CWD.

CGT asks gas suppliers to be ready for winter conditions this week by taking the following precautions:

  • Make sure your customers' daily usage does not exceed supply.
  • Keep an eye on Pipe Ranger and INSIDEtracc this week. These are CGT's communication channels for news and information about cold weather events.
  • Be prepared to communicate with your customers in the event of an OFO, EFO, diversion or local curtailment.

If you have any questions, please contact your CGT Account Services Representative for further assistance.
