High BTU Gas Expected June 7

Sunday, June 06, 2010

Pacific Gas and Electric Company's California Gas Transmission expects to receive higher-than-normal heating value gas into its system late Sunday, June 06, 2010 or very early Monday, June 7, 2010. The duration is expected to last approximately 20 hours and the highest value is expected at 1072 Btu. The high BTU gas is due to an unscheduled outage at a facility located in Canada.

The speed at which the high BTU gas will migrate throughout the system is dependent upon the system demand pattern experienced by the local transmission and distribution systems.

The BTU content throughout PG&E's system will remain within existing parameters for safe and reliable equipment operation. However, some customer processes may be sensitive to natural gas heat content, especially electric generation facilities, refineries, glass manufacturers and commercial customers using natural gas for cooking and drying. Customers testing their emissions may notice the increased BTU content.
