Pacific Gas and Electric Company's California Gas Transmission expects to receive higher-than-normal heating value gas into its system on Monday, June 7, 2010. At this time the duration of the event is unknown and the highest value expected is unknown.

The high BTU gas is due to an unscheduled outage at a facility located in Canada. The speed at which the high BTU gas will migrate throughout the system is dependent upon the system demand pattern experienced by the local transmission and distribution systems. The BTU value of the delivered gas is expected to be as high as 1080 BTU/cf or more, which is above normal levels of 1020 BTU/cf.

The BTU content throughout PG&E's system is expected to remain within existing parameters for safe and reliable equipment operation. However, some customer processes may be sensitive to natural gas heat content, especially electric generation facilities, refineries, glass manufacturers and commercial customers using natural gas for cooking and drying. Customers testing their emissions may notice the increased BTU content.
