Out with the old and in with the new! PG&E's California Gas Transmission is pleased to announce work is underway to increase reliability and lower emissions at its Delevan compressor station located on the Redwood Path. The scheduled work includes the installation of two new compressor units and a control systems upgrade.

The controls upgrade work to the Delevan K-3 compressor unit has already begun and when completed it will allow the operation of the unit using modern control technology. The K-3 unit will be tied in with the rest of the station between March 30, and April 3, 2009. The second and third phases of work at the Delevan compressor station include the replacement of the K-2 and K-1 gas turbine compressor units with new electric motor-driven compressor units.

The existing units are a little over 40 years old, making parts difficult to obtain. Replacing the units will increase the availability and reliability of the units and reduce emissions to the local environment.

The three projects will be performed sequentially to minimize the impact to Redwood Path operations. The overall work to be performed at the station is scheduled as follows:

• Upgrade the existing K-3 unit controls system in March / April 2009
• Replace the existing K-2 unit starting in September 2009 and finishing in April 2010
• Replace the existing K-1 unit starting in September 2010 and finishing in April 2011
