Pacific Gas and Electric Company's California Gas Transmission will conduct a "quiet period" at Los Medanos storage field starting November 6, 2007. During the quiet period, Los Medanos injection and withdrawal will be unavailable, and Pleasant Creek and McDonald Island storage field injections will be limited to approximately 200 MMcf/day.
Each year CGT ceases injection and withdrawal activity at one of its storage fields allowing pressure in various gas wells to settle and stabilize. This allows CGT engineers to accurately determine the volume of gas inventory held at that facility. To minimize impacts to its customers, CGT schedules this operation when demand for storage services is low.
During the quiet period, CGT's injection and withdrawal capacity will be limited to that available at McDonald Island and Pleasant Creek. CGT expects its withdrawal and injection capacity will be sufficient to fully meet the demand for firm storage services although some as-available services will not be available.
This year's Los Medanos quiet period will commence November 6, 2007, and is estimated for completion December 17, 2007. Because of the unpredictable nature of storage field dynamics, the exact duration of the event cannot be known in advance.
Please contact your CGT Account Services Representative if you have any questions about your storage account during November.
