Reach for your coats! The holiday season is over, but that doesn't mean an end to cold weather. Pacific Gas and Electric Company's California Gas Transmission expects system-wide temperatures to hover around the Cold Winter Day (CWD) criterion Friday, January 12 through Sunday, January 14. During this time, it is crucial that customers balance their supply and demand.

CWD is a statistical planning criterion which includes a system weighted mean temperature of 38 degrees Fahrenheit, and is used to ensure reliable gas service. Between today and Friday, California Gas Transmission expects a drop of about 10 degrees in our system composite temperature, reaching an unusual low on Saturday and warming slightly on Sunday.

No gas curtailments are expected, primarily due to the expectation that the coldest temperatures will occur Saturday morning, generally a time of lower demand.
