13. Storage Assets Available for Balancing and Market Center

Introduction to Operational Flow Orders (OFO)

A portion of Pacific Gas and Electric Company's storage assets is set aside for use in balancing the pipeline system. Storage assets reserved for balancing are:

  • 200 MMcf/d injection
  • 300 MMcf/d withdrawal
  • 5.0 Bcf inventory

On the day of gas flow, any of these assets in excess of what is needed to balance pipeline inventory are released to the market center. The Golden Gate Market Center may then use such excess capacity to offer parking or lending to the market.
