South County Power Connect will serve our 43,000 electric customers in Morgan Hill, Gilroy and southern Santa Clara County. This map provides an overview of the project components and project study area, including the eight potential substation sites and refined transmission line corridors identified by the project team.


Project breakdown


  • Construct a new substation
  • Connect Morgan Hill-Llagas 115 kV line into the new substation
  • Connect one of the Metcalf-Moss Landing 230 kV lines into the new substation
  • Reconductor the 115 kV line from the new substation to the existing Morgan Hill Substation

September 2015 – Project Study Area


In September 2015, we hosted our first round of public open houses. At the open houses, the project team presented the project study area map, which identified the large section of land in which the project could reasonably be located.
