Energy Upgrade California® Home Upgrade evaluates all of the systems in your home to determine which upgrades can reduce your energy use and improve the comfort of your home.
To get started with your Home Upgrade, you must work with a participating contractor. All participating contractors and raters in our database are certified and have been trained to look holistically at your home and identify improvements that will save you the most energy and money. They can help you through the entire process, from assessing your home to filling out the rebate paperwork.
A participating Home Upgrade contractor or rater evaluates your home's heating, cooling and water heating systems, and then recommends upgrades to make your home more energy efficient.
Make basic upgrades that can improve the energy efficiency of your home. Receive up to $3,000 in rebates by working with a participating contractor to install three or more upgrades.
Customize your energy-efficient home improvements and receive up to $6,500* in rebates and incentives. Your participating contractor or rater completes an energy assessment, and then works with you to identify the best ways to reduce your energy use.
Receive your rebate check 6-8 weeks after we receive your completed paperwork from your contractor. In addition to the rebate, you should start saving on your energy bill each month.**
If you don't have the money to upgrade your home now, financing may be available.***
Energy upgrade financing of up to $50,000 for 15 years is available in 44 counties across California.
Borrow up to $25,000 for up to 15 years, in Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties.
*You may be eligible for rebates greater than $6,500, based on your energy savings. Work with your participating contractor or rater to calculate your rebate.
**Savings depend on customer usage, weather, rates and other factors. Savings are not guaranteed.
