Better Together STEM Scholarships


The PG&E Corporation Foundation is offering Better Together STEM scholarships.


Applicants for the Better Together STEM scholarships listed must:


  • Be a high school senior or graduate, have received GED certification or be an undergraduate or postsecondary undergraduate student. Veterans and adults returning to school are encouraged to apply.
  • Have a primary residence that is a PG&E customer in California at the time of application.
  • Plan to enroll as a full-time undergraduate student in an eligible STEM field at any four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.

Eligible majors include:


  • Engineering (electrical, mechanical, industrial, environmental, power and/or energy)
  • Computer Science/Information Systems
  • Cyber Security
  • Environmental Sciences

Nontraditional students who are returning to school to finish their degree or planning on attending for the first time are encouraged to apply.

2023 scholarships


The PG&E Corporation Foundation and PG&E’s employee groups offer a wide range of scholarships to help the next generation of Californians succeed and innovate in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), as well as other disciplines. In 2022, together, they made nearly 150 of these scholarships available, with awards ranging from $1,000 to $10,000.


  • 2023 Better Together STEM Scholarships is currently open as of March 21, 2023 through May 2, 2023
  • PG&E's Employee Resource Group (ERG) and Engineering Network Group (ENG) scholarships the application process is now closed and will reopen at the end of the year

Employee Resource Group & Engineering Network Group scholarships


The PG&E Employee Resource Group (ERG) and Engineering Network Group (ENG) scholarships are supported by PG&E and through the fundraising and contributions of the following employee groups, as well as individual employees.


Each group awards scholarships to students who have shown commitment to specific communities or causes. ERG or ENG scholarships do not have gender or race requirements. Thus, students are encouraged to apply to more than one or all eligible scholarships. Applicants for ALL the scholarships listed below must:


  • Be a high school senior or graduate, have received GED certification or be an undergraduate or postsecondary undergraduate student. Veterans and adults returning to school are encouraged to apply.
  • Have a primary residence that is a PG&E customer in California at the time of application.
  • Plan to enroll full time in an accredited college or university in the Fall.

This employee group supports the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the PG&E workforce and supports customers and community members who have disabilities. All majors eligible; encouragement given to medical, psychology or physical therapy emphasis.

PG&E Asian

3.0 un-weighted

$2,000-$3,000 scholarships (college-bound high school seniors only).

This employee group provides an effective forum for members to enhance skills, knowledge and experience. All majors eligible; encouragement given to engineering, IT, business, environmental or energy-related emphasis.

 

PG&E Black

3.0 un-weighted

$1,000-$5,000 scholarships (college-bound high school seniors and continuing undergraduate college students).

This employee group is dedicated to cultivating and maintaining an energized network of professionals in support of African American culture focusing on career and professional development, mentoring and community outreach. All majors eligible; encouragement given to STEM, business, environmental or energy-related emphasis.

PG&E Latino

3.0 weighted

$1,000-$2,000 scholarships (college-bound high school seniors and continuing undergraduate college students).

This employee group's mission to inspire Latinos to achieve their full potential at all levels within PG&E and the community, emphasizing leadership development, quality service, youth achievement and appreciation for cultural diversity. All majors eligible; none required.

PG&E Legacy

No minimum

Multiple $1,000 scholarships (college-bound high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate college students, and continuing students in certificate programs related to supporting Senior communities).

This group strives to share the experience, knowledge and perspective of employees who have tenure or bring tenure to PG&E. All majors eligible; encouragement given to continuing students in certificate programs related to supporting senior communities.

PG&E Meena

3.0 weighted

$1,000 - $3,000 (college-bound high school seniors and continuing undergraduate college students).

This group is dedicated to cultivating, sustaining, and maintaining an energized network of professionals representing communities from the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa regions within PG&E.  Encouragement is given students majoring in Business or a STEM field that exhibit MEENA’s values of community, innovation, inclusion, and accountability.

PG&E NSBE Network Group

3.0 weighted

$1,000 - $3,000 (college-bound high school seniors and continuing undergraduate college students).

This engineering network group promotes STEM awareness to diverse collegiate and pre-collegiate students in the PG&E service territory. All Majors eligible; encouragement given to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math majors.

PG&E Nuengery

3.0 weighted

$1,000-$5,000 scholarships (for continuing undergraduate college students only; high school seniors not eligible).

This group is for new PG&E employees. It serves to engage, inspire, and onboard recent employees through social networking, community volunteering and professional development opportunities. All majors eligible; encouragement given to engineering, IT, business, environmental or energy-related emphasis.

PG&E Pride Network

No minimum

$6,000 scholarships (college-bound high school seniors and community college transfer students*)


PrideNetwork fosters shared success by supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) and ally employees in achieving their full potential. All majors are eligible. Applicants must have demonstrated service to the LGBT+ community. Applicants of all sexual orientations and gender identities are eligible for PrideNetwork’s scholarships.


PLEASE NOTE: PrideNetwork utilizes a separate application form because our scholarships are awarded through eQuality Scholarship Collaborative an organization comprised of several LGBT ERGs, non-profits and individual donors. This scholarship application does not require completion of PG&E’s general ERG scholarship application.


*PrideNetwork's partners in eQuality Scholarship Collaborative also offer scholarships for medical students, who can apply through the same application form.

PG&E PSEA Scholarship

3.0 weighted

$1,000 scholarships (for PG&E employee dependents only).

Pacific Service Employees Association provides scholarship opportunities reserved solely to the dependents of PG&E employees who promote community involvement in the areas where they live.

PG&E Samahan

3.0 weighted

$1,000-$2,000 scholarships (college-bound high school seniors only).

This group promotes social and educational aspects of Filipino-American culture and heritage among its members and to all PG&E employees. All majors eligible; none required.

PG&E SHPE Scholarship

2.5 weighted

$1,000 - $2,000 (college-bound high school seniors and continuing undergraduate college students).

This Engineering network group promotes STEM awareness, access, support and development of professionals and students. All Majors eligible; encouragement given to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math majors.

PG&E Veterans Scholarship

2.0 weighted

$5,000+ scholarships (college-bound high school seniors and continuing undergraduate college students).

This employee group shares a vision of excellence through leadership focusing on veteran advocacy within PG&E and in our service area communities. All majors eligible; encouragement given to STEM or energy-related emphasis.

PG&E Womens Network

3.0 un-weighted

$3,000-$5,000 scholarships (college-bound high school seniors only).

This group promotes, develops and celebrates the community of women working at PG&E. The group is active in many nonprofit organizations devoted to professional development, environmental stewardship and women-focused issues. Eligible majors: non-medical science, technology, engineering, mathematics, business, public policy
