Cold Weather Alert for Saturday and Sunday
Wednesday, Febuary 23, 2011
PG&E's California Gas Transmission is issuing a Cold Weather Alert for this Saturday and Sunday, February 26 and 27. The current forecast is calling for many areas to be at or beyond our Cold Winter Day (CWD) conditions, including San Francisco and the San Francisco Peninsula.
Cold Winter Day is a design day criteria used to ensure reliable gas service for core and noncore customers. Gas systems are designed to meet all expected core and noncore demand during a CWD. The CWD design temperature is defined as the coldest temperature that may be exceeded one in every two years, on average. The system weighted mean temperature for a CWD is about 37 degrees Fahrenheit. The average daily temperatures for San Francisco are forecast to be in the range of 41 to 42 degrees, Fahrenheit this weekend.
CGT is currently not expecting local curtailments. We will provide updates on Pipe Ranger over the next few days as the situation develops.
Please refer to the Getting Ready for Winter document, or call your CGT Account Services Representative if you have questions.
