Password Guidelines
Friday, November 18, 2005
Passwords have come a long way since Ali Baba gained entrance to the treasure cave of the 40 thieves with his famous phrase, "Open, Sesame!" That phrase wouldn't pass the test of most of today's guidelines for password security!
California Gas Transmission recommends customers use the following guidelines when creating passwords:
- Set length to be between eight and ten characters; this is the length needed in order for INSIDEtracc's password to synchronize with the Citrix password
- Include a mix of numbers, characters, uppercase and lowercase letters, with letters mixed so as to not form recognized words
- Use a number at the beginning or end
These password guidelines will help ensure your account security. Unless you're entering a treasure cave, surprises are the last thing needed when you logon in the morning!
