California Gas Transmission Launches INSIDEtracc-Web Project
Thursday, October 26, 2000
Pacific Gas and Electric Company's California Gas Transmission (CGT) has embarked on a project to move INSIDEtracc to the Web. The INSIDEtracc-Web project has two main goals:
1. To migrate the INSIDEtracc screens to the Internet, and
2. To introduce electronic signature capability for exhibits in INSIDEtracc.
Migrating INSIDEtracc Screens
FERC has mandated interstate pipelines to migrate their business activity to the Internet. While Pacific Gas and Electric Company, as an intrastate pipeline, does not fall under FERC jurisdiction, the Company understands the value in conforming to an industry-wide protocol for Internet access. The decision to migrate INSIDEtracc screens to the Web is directed at satisfying our customers and making it easier for them to do business with us.
When the project is completed, customers will simply log in to their respective Internet service provider and go to the Pipe Ranger Web site. From there, customers will select INSIDEtracc-Web and log in.
CGT is also aware that the faxing of exhibits between CGT and the customer is burdensome. With the advent of various means and degrees of electronic contracting in the Internet environment, CGT is preparing to take a first step into that arena by introducing electronic signature capability to our contracting process. CGT is in the process of defining the specifics of electronic acceptance of contracts within INSIDEtracc.
The target for completion of the INSIDEtracc-Web project is Summer 2001. Throughout the course of the project, CGT will provide periodic updates on Pipe Ranger so that customers will be prepared and ready to use INSIDEtracc from the Web.
Please contact your CGT Account Services Representative if you have any questions.
