DescriptionState of the art lighting products will be exhibited with the emphasis on energy-efficient lighting and controls. Meet manufacturersÂ’ representatives and network with the Bay Area Lighting community. Join us for a day of demonstrations, 1-hour lectures, refreshments, and enlightenment. This event is co-sponsored with the San Francisco Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America.

Audience LevelGeneral audience. Especially appropriate for anyone who includes lighting in specifications or manages lighting in commercial, industrial, or residential settings.
    Educational Seminars: IES/CEU & AIA/LU accredited one hour each. No pre-registration required for individual seminars. Seating is on a first come basis.

  • 12:00PM - A Guided Tour of SSL Flat Panel Light Sources - Past, Present, and Future

    Speakers - Dr. Mike Lu, PhD, Director OLED Lighting Design Center, Acuity Brands Lighting. Ms. Jeannine Fisher Wang, PE LC, Director OLED Business Development, Acuity Brands Lighting.

    This seminar offers an overview of the current and future states, including light quality and character, viability, cost, luminaire design, and leading companies, for each SSL Flat Panel Lighting technology - Thin Film EL, Edge-lit LED, Embedded LED, OLED, Quantum Dots, & Polymer Dispersed Nano LED.

  • 2:00PM - 2013 CA Title 24 - Energy Code Update - Lighting Controls

    Speaker - Mr. Charles Knuffke, Western Region Vice President of Sales, WattStopper.

    Unique and revolutionary changes are in the Lighting Sections of the revised CA Title 24 Code. Mr. Knuffke covers all code revisions pertaining to Lighting Controls

  • 4:00PM - 2013 CA Title 24 - Energy Code Update - Lighting Design

    Speaker - Mr. Halley Fitzpatrick, P.E., LEED AP, Lighting Consultant, Arup, San Francisco

    Mr. Fitzpatrick addresses the revised codeÂ’s impact on lighting design with the new Lighting Power densities, both commercial interior and exterior, as well as new luminaire performance requirements, new rules to altering luminaires in place, and a brief overview of new residential lighting requirements.

  • 6:00PM - The New IES RP-8 - Recommended Practice for Advancing Roadway Safety, Comfort and Energy Savings.

    Speaker - Dr. Ron Gibbons, Director, Center for Infrastructure Based Safety Systems, Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, (VTTI).

    Dr. Gibbons will review the current changes in RP-8, the IES Recommended Practice, which include the application of spectral effects of light sources, adaptive lighting and alternative light sources. He will provide a look to the future of roadway lighting including the link between lighting and traffic safety, security and energy savings.
