New Solar Homes Partnership
The New Solar Homes Partnership (NSHP) is part of the comprehensive statewide solar program, known as the California Solar Initiative. The NSHP provides financial incentives and other support to home builders, encouraging the construction of new, energy efficient solar homes.
The goal of the NSHP is to incorporate high levels of energy efficiency and high-performing solar systems to help create a self-sustaining solar market where home buyers demand energy efficient solar homes.
The California Energy Commission (CEC) has been managing the NSHP, a 10-year, $400
million program since January 1, 2007. The statewide Investor Owned Utilities (IOUs) have
taken over administration to implement the NSHP since the spring of 2008.
