Attic and Wall Insulation

The ceiling and walls of your home could be leaking money. Insulating your attic and walls can help reduce your energy costs and make your home more comfortable. Get a $150 rebate from PG&E for 1,000 square feet of qualifying attic insulation, and $500 back for 1,000 square feet of qualifying wall insulation.

How to Apply

Keep your Home Insulated

Old insulation or no insulation translates to higher energy costs because:

  • Heated or cooled air escapes through non-insulated areas, so you're paying to heat and cool the wrong side of the walls and ceiling in your home
  • Hot or cold air from outside can get into your home when you don't need it

How to Get Your Rebate

  • Customers must have natural gas and/or electricity distributed by Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) for space heating or cooling at the installation address.
  • All insulation material must be new and meet or exceed all applicable local, state and federal standards.
  • Insulation must be installed between a conditioned living area and an unconditioned non-living area.
  • Garages, interior walls and other non-living areas do not qualify (unconditioned non-living areas do not qualify).
  • Attic insulation rebates are not available in climate zones 1 and 16 based on CA Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards. Find your home's Climate Zone.
  • New construction and floor insulation projects do not qualify.

PG&E's 2010-2012 rebate program is available for qualifying products purchased and installed between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2012. Payment of rebates is not guaranteed as funds are limited, and amounts and offerings are subject to change. All rebate program terms and conditions apply.
