Get a $50 Rebate

Variable Speed Motor

When you upgrade the fan and motor in your forced air heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system, it can keep your home comfortable and it could cost less to heat and cool. Get a $50 rebate when you install this energy-saving upgrade to your central air conditioning system.

How to Apply

Make Your Home More Comfortable and More Efficient

A new variable speed motor uses advanced controllers to automatically change fan speed based on your home’s heating and cooling requirements. That major improvement in energy efficiency eliminates the blast of air you feel with old units, ends noisy start ups and reduces wear and tear on the fan and motor. It all adds up to a substantial reduction in operating costs.

How to Get Your Rebate

  • Customer must have electricity distributed by PG&E to the installation address.
  • Must replace the existing single speed motor (retrofit) for the central HVAC air handler fan system with a new VSM that includes a controller.
  • Only available to customers residing in climate zones 11, 12, or 13. Find your climate zone map.
  • Controller must be set up to control the motor speed according to the difference between the indoor temperature and the thermostat set point.
