Duct Sealing rebate Requirements and Conditions
- You must be an active residential or multifamily Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) electric customer
- Installation must take place at a PG&E service address
- You must be located in Climate Zones 2, 4, 11, 12, or 13
- Individual systems must be between 1.5 and 7 tons cooling capacity
- Air conditioning systems with multiple compressors and economizers are not eligible
- Multiple systems at the same address are eligible
- If duct leakage is less than 15% of fan flow (the volume of heated or cooled air that comes out of the registers), no repairs are required and no incentive will be provided
- You must not have had previous duct test and seal work completed on your home within the past six years funded under a Utility administered program
- You must have an existing central air conditioning or heat pump or replace an old central air conditioning or heat pump system with a new system
- New system installed when no prior equipment was present will not qualify; state building code already requires a duct test on these systems
Duct Sealing Rebate Conditions
- All work is subject to validation prior to payment. A refusal to allow PG&E to perform an on-site validation of the work performed may result in a declined rebate payment
- Actual rebate amounts are based on a variety of factors, including age of your central air conditioning system and the system's Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER)
- Incentives vary based on the cost to seal the ducts and whether the central air conditioning equipment is existing or a new high efficiency unit is being installed as a replacement in your residence. The incentives are paid only when ducts are sealed
