What is the SmartAC program?

The SmartAC program is a free service that can be activated by PG&E during energy supply emergencies to help prevent summer power interruptions in California. By reducing the amount of energy your air conditioner uses, you can help everyone stay cool this summer while helping the environment.

How the SmartAC program works.

When you sign up for the SmartAC program, PG&E will install a free SmartAC device in your home. On especially hot days, between May 1 and October 31, we’ll send your SmartAC device a signal to use slightly less power. It’s just a small change for you—but it can make a big difference. Watch Video
