Validated HAN Devices

Validated HAN Devices

IMPORTANT: Before purchasing a HAN device, be sure you check your eligibility to participate in Home and Business Area Networking by filling out our HAN eligibility form. PG&E also strongly recommends reading our HAN Device Guidelines to understand other technical issues that may affect you.

PG&E has worked with device manufacturers to validate this set of devices for use with our customers' Home and Business Area Networks. PG&E has validated that a device can successfully connect ("pair") with a PG&E's SmartMeter™ in order to provide our customers with their near realtime energy use. However, PG&E does not validate that devices function as described by their manufacturers regarding all other areas of their promised functionality—you are responsible for determining this functionality with the device manufacturer or service provider.

Please note the device's listed firmware version. Only this version of the firmware has been validated. Because of the evolving nature of the Smart Energy standards, changes by PG&E to the SmartMeter™ network, and changes by the device vendors themselves (including firmware changes), this list will necessarily change over time. Contact your individual device vendor for information regarding updates and compatibility with PG&E's Home and Business Area Network.

This list of validated devices is not comprehensive; other devices may be compatible on PG&E's network, and customers can attempt to register any ZigBee SEP1.0 or 1.1 device with their SmartMeter™. However, PG&E cannot provide any guarantee that devices not included on PG&E's list of validated devices are compatible. For more information, view our Frequently Asked Questions

Information for HAN Device Vendors

PG&E is working with other California IOUs to develop common device eligibility and compatibility validation requirements. PG&E is exploring using qualified third-party laboratories for its validation testing. We anticipate launching this testing process in Q3 2013. Until that time, PG&E will collect contact information from interested vendors. Please submit your contact information to HANValidation@pge.com and PG&E will contact you when the third-party device validation application is available.
