Solar Geometry & Radiation Calculators
We offer three simple tools for calculationg or looking up basic solar angles and radiation values. These angles and values are used when designing solar control (shading) devices.
 | PEC Sun Angle Chart This graphical sun angle chart provides altitude and profile angles for any latitude. It is available for free while supplies last from the PEC.  | Pilkington Sun Angle Calculator (PSAC) The PSAC provides basic solar angles including profile angle, solar surface azimuth, altitude, and angle of incidence. This calculator is available for purchase from the Society of Building Science Educators and is available for short-term loan from the Tool Lending Library. |
 | Architect's View of the Sun spreadsheet This Excel spreadsheet provides solar geometry angles and radiation values. The use provides information such as window orientation, latitude, surface tilt angle, and radiation. There are two versions of this spreadsheet. AVOTS_Annual.xls (XLS, 50 KB) displays one variable for all times of day for the 12 months of the year. AVOTS_Monthly.xls (XLS, 36 KB) displays all variables for one month month. |
